I suspect Leila Stoat is correct, that Carly knows everything that "Alisha" thinks she is hiding. And I think Alex must know, at least unconsciously, or he'd be "discovering a long-buried trace of bisexuality" and asking Carly to help him explore this "surprising" new development. Clearly, Alex knows that any such suggestion would be met only with scorn and derision, and possibly some even nastier attempts at manipulation....
